The Indian Constitution guarantees six fundamental rights to every citizen, forming the backbone of our democracy. These include the Right to Equality, Right to Freedom, Right against Exploitation, Right to Freedom of Religion, Cultural and Educational Rights, and the Right to Constitutional Remedies. Knowing these rights is the first step towards becoming an empowered citizen.

Article 14 ensures equality before the law, while Article 21 protects the right to life and personal liberty. Over the decades, the Supreme Court has expanded the scope of these rights through landmark judgments such as Maneka Gandhi v. Union of India and Puttaswamy v. Union of India, which recognised privacy as a fundamental right.

If your fundamental rights are violated, you can directly approach the Supreme Court under Article 32 or the High Court under Article 226. At FFYR Human Rights Council, we regularly conduct awareness camps to help citizens understand and exercise these rights effectively.
